Other tongues and unknown tongues (the holy ghost connection)

Acts 2:1-4 New International Version (NIV)

1. When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.
2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.
3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.
4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

1 Corinthians 13 New International Version (NIV)

13 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels

Isaiah 28:11-12 King James Version (KJV)

11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

1Corinthians 14: 21

In the Law it is written: “Through men of strange tongues and through the lips of foreigners I will speak to this people, but even then they will not listen to me,” says the Lord.

It is amazing studying this scriptures and getting fresh Rhema from these. What was previously predicted by Prophet Isaiah to the nation Israel got confirmed but what I want to point out is this. The Holy Ghost is the greatest high, you can ever get.

Those who drink alcohol to get high are simply missing the real deal. You don’t need alcohol or to get drunk with liquor to be high, that would only make you temporarily forget your pain but as soon as you are conscious again, your problems comes starring back on your face.

The greatest high you can ever get as a child of God is the high of the Holy Ghost.

Ephesians 5: 18

KJV And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit,
ASV And be not drunken with wine, wherein is riot, but be filled with the Spirit;
AMP Do not get drunk with wine, for that is wickedness (corruption, stupidity), but be filled with the [Holy] Spirit and constantly guided by Him.
AMPC And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but ever be filled and stimulated with the [Holy] Spirit.
BRG And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit

Now looking at that word “Be Filled with the Spirit” The actual Greek interpretation means “Being Filled with the Spirit” which means continuously getting filled with the Holy Ghost. How by speaking in tongues.

There are a lot of misconception about speaking in tongues that I need to properly explain. A son asked me since Satan do not understand tongues then how do you explain when someone speaks in a different dialect or foreign language he hasn’t learnt before and other people around understands what he speaks but the recipient doesn’t know the language or what it means but still prophesying or praising God. Now let me explain.

On the day of Pentecost just as I have given the bible verse above. They were in one accord and the Holy Ghost came. I have heard so many teachings on the evidence of Holy Ghost baptism, some say it is the wind, some say the cloven tongues of fire, some say the word, and some say the speaking in tongues proves the Holy Ghost came since that was what attracted the crowd and proved they spoke in a language.
1. The wind was a physical sign to show the arrival of the Holy Ghost but that wasn’t an evidence. The Holy Ghost had always being around people but this very day, he was coming to earth in fullness to identify fully with man. Remember Jesus Christ promised he must go for the Holy Ghost to come. That was to prove the arrival and to usher us into the dispensation of the Holy Ghost. But that wasn’t the evidence.
2.The cloven tongues of Fire that rested on the was a sign to show the manner of Spirit baptism or filling that came. Remember John had predicted He that cometh shall baptise with the Holy Ghost and with Fire.
Matthew 3:11 (KJV)

11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire

Remember John when baptizing people God gave him a sign that on whom The Spirit descends upon in bodily shape as a dove and resting upon, that was the Messiah. Nobody saw the dove, or saw the heaven open or the voice, God gave that as a sign to John alone to signify to him who the Messiah was. So the Holy Ghost came upon Jesus Christ in bodily shape as a dove that doesn’t mean that the Holy Ghost is dove. Nobody except John alone saw that as a sign to him, no wonder when Jesus passed again few days later, John told his disciples, behold the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. And two disciples, Andrew and Philip followed him…

John 1:32-34 (KJV)

32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

Now let’s go back tongues. The Fire is to confirm the zeal of God’s grace coming upon the 120 brethren at the upper room. The fire in Greek referred to as Gift, which means that power that came deposited Holy Ghost gifts into them how? you may ask. Let’s read again.

Acts 2:1-4 (NIV)

1. When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.
2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.
3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.
4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them

You can see they were both filled with the Holy Ghost and also baptized with the Holy Ghost

Note the word “All of them were filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak in other tongues and the Spirit enabled them”
They began to speak in “other tongues” You can seperate these words “Other”means in Greek “Heteros”
Which means “different type of, or various” while Tongues in Greek is “Glossa” which means “language”. If you combine the two words “Other tongues” in Greek is “Glossolalia” which definitely means Foreign language. They actually spoke in foreign languages while some in prayer languages because some languages weren’t understood and they thought hey were drunk with new wine.

The Holy Ghost decided to spread this, remember God divided the language of men building the tower of babel, to stop their intent and scattered them. The Holy Ghost chose to use language to gather people for salvation. Now the evidence of Holy Ghost baptism is speaking in tongues. Some people get this tongues as an initial evidence and later it comes as a gift, while some get it as a gift and can speak at will. Now the Holy Ghost knew what was needed was languages and the disciples spoke and the people were surprised. I have heard of a man who never spoke in English, a group of missionaries tried teaching him english but failed when the Holy Ghost came upon him, he spoke in tongues and guess what he spoke? He spoke in English, prophesying and people were shocked when he came back to himself, he couldn’t speak in English again, people told him he spoke in English and told him all he said when he tried again to speak in English he couldn’t until the Holy Ghost impressed upon him again. I have spoken in Greek and Chinese languages without knowing what I said. A man got to a hotel an alhaji and heard someone speaking in tongues in Arabic language, worshipping God. The alhaji broke down in tears and surrendered to Jesus Christ. This tongues is majorly for ministering to people, winning souls and ministry. This is also grouped under diverse kinds of tongues. It is called Other tongues. This tongue is for communication with men and ministry. This is not a personal tongue per say, it could be used as a means of prophecy to edify and strengthen people. This is a sign gift for unbelievers for them to believe and be saved,a form of evangelism and also to edify the Church. This gift is meant for others. Most times this tongues can be interpreted. Paul talked about speaking in tongues and interpreting to edify the church. Most times it goes in line with prophesy.

1 Corinthians 14:5 (NIV).
5 I would like every one of you to speak in tongues,[a] but I would rather have you prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues,[b] unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified

There is another tongue called Unknown tongues which no man understands. This is a language of angels. This is a personal praying tongues to edify yourself alone. It is a language of intercession. Most times you can be speaking in this unknown tongues and actually praying someone you are not aware of.
I heard of a woman speaking in tongues at the market square, people gathered. She kept speaking until after two hours. Unknowingly to her, robbers had broken into their house, taken her husband’s dollars, university certificates, documents, all his life savings. Only for them to gather all these things and left the house without taking any of them. She came into the house and everything scattered in sitting room yet safe. God kept her back two hours and arrested the robbers, they couldn’t take a pin. This tongues is for your personal use.

1 Corinthians 14:4 King James Version (KJV)

4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself.

Are you filled with the Holy Ghost? Speak in tongues more and more. If you are not filled, desire to speak and you will receive. Shalom!
